Conscientious Care from Hatch to Harvest
Production
Our turkey breeders mature in a comfortable, biosecure environment before transfer to our laying farms, where they have free range and lay eggs in nests of their choosing. Eggs are collected, sanitized, and taken to our hatchery—one of the largest in the world. The hatchery’s state-of-the- art machines provide optimal conditions for incubation and hatching, and hours after the poults emerge, they are delivered to one of our contract grower families. For the rest of their lives—through the brooding stage and final grow-out period—the birds are free range in environmentally controlled barns, have free access to water and nutritious feed, and receive excellent care from our growers.
Processing
The turkeys raised by Prestage Farms are processed either at our own processing facility, Prestage Foods, Inc., or by other processors at their facilities to be sold under their brands. Turkey processed at our St. Pauls, NC facility is marketed under a variety of retail private labels including the Prestage brand.
