Gene Chavez

After working for six years in the pork production industry at two other companies and feeling like he wasn’t being given the opportunity to reach his professional goals, Gene joined Prestage Farms in 2000 and hasn’t looked back. Today, Gene oversees servicing of nursery space for 71,000 animals and finishing space for 55,000 animals, and leads 33 employees on nursery and finishing wash crews. When he’s not on the job working with people and animals, he relaxes by working on his classic car or cooking pork chile colorado—his favorite pork dish.
